“Stoned Immaculate

“Get Away (Jodie)”

This song was written on a sunny day of 2020 in a field overlooking a glinting Glasgow in the distance and you absolutely feel transported there as soon as the few first bars of the song ring out. The song is based on an accoustic guitar, jinglier than some previous songs, itself more rhythmical as well. While the sun shines through the chords, Louis’s voice, deeper than usual, reminds you of the context of the song: it is lockdown and everyone’s loosing their minds, or loosing their minds more than usual. “I’m dead set on staying in bed Can’t change the world from inside my head” are the very relatable lyrics you hear right before the chorus kicks in. Added to the chords; synths that subtly make their chorus more dynamic & the bass that might seem less in the spotlight but have a close listen: it’s as good as ever. “Get Away (Jodie)” only lasts 3 min and manages to always keep your attention by changing things ups, like the fuzz infused solo that electrifies the last 30 seconds, before everything calms down with the synth. This might be the song we all need right now to stay sane and get some sleep. Long live the Stony Macs ❤ “
